Washington - The Haunted Elevator. “50 States of Freaky!” Vol. 47

Be sure you’re all caught up with this series! “50 States of Freaky”

—————-

For a second, I thought we stepped onto the set of that M. Knight movie “Devil”. But nope, we just arrived at our next destination, which is the Landmark Theater in Tacoma, Washington. Opening in 1929, strange things quickly began happening in the theater. The ghost of a woman was said to have been seen sitting in the audience during a performance. Her name was reported to be either Claire or Clarice. There are a few versions of who exactly she was. One says that she fell to her death from the mezzanine after she’d just witnessed her husband die from electrocution as he worked on stage. Another version says she was an actress who threw herself from the balcony after she’d lost a coveted audition. Another spirit is said to haunt the theater. The ghost of a janitor who apparently died in 1972 now reportedly haunts the service elevator. People say the elevator goes up and down on it’s own and stops at random floors. The doors will open for a few seconds as if someone is walking in and out of the elevator (so…like what every elevator does). So, yeah. A supposed haunted elevator. You know, I’m kind of inclined to believe that maybe the elevator isn’t haunted, but instead it’s just…being an elevator. As for the ghost woman, I’m thinking that ghost is more likely to exist than the elevator one. But, who knows for sure. So, what do you think? Is the building actually haunted or are they just simple stories told to freak people out?
